20th Century award winning design Feathers Victoria Clarke 1983
A 20th C designed enamel box produced in the traditional 18th C Bilston and Battersea manner.
A rectangular shaped Halcyon Days Enamels box with a hinged lid and gilt mounts, the lid and sides decorated with a profusion of finely rendered colourful feathers. The interior decorated with single feather on a cream base.
In 1983 Halcyon Days Enamels organised a design competion in association with The Royal College of Art, Design Council and House and Garden Magazine. The designs were appraised by a select panel of well respected judges. This enamel box edition "Feathers" designed by Victoria Clarke was awarded 2nd prize and released as a LTD Edition of 250. This example is hand numbered 184/250 to the base along with other prize winning and Halcyon Days Enamel details. A terrific box in good condition. Halcyon Days Enamels are crafted from the result of many complex processes (item is handled between 50-100 times for various processes) including 3 layers of enamel, gilded or bronzed plated brass mounts, ceramic transfer lithographs and many are finished with hand painted accents in various colours, some requiring additional extra firings ensuring a unique individual item with an original Halcyon Days design. Halcyon Days Enamels holds multiple Royal Warrants.
Please Note: All enamels are pre-owned and may have been displayed at some time. Gilt, shelf and handling wear in keeping with age and use can be expected. Small manufacturing imperfections may or may not be present. Numerous photos are listed for each enamel item with most shown enlarged to enable detail to be seen clearly. When a box/brochure is shown in the photo/s it is included with the enamel piece, when not shown in the photo/s it is not included.
