Los Castillo vintage Creamer and Sugar bowl 7-10cm
Los Castillo hand made Creamer and Sugar with turquoise mosaic birds Mexico

A vintage hand crafted Los Castillo mosaic electroplated Creamer and Sugar bowl. The sugar bowl is decorated with a single songbird which is covered with turquoise mosaic and shell eyes, the plain domed bowl sitting on a wavy wire support/base and the Los Castillo Taxco marks stamped below. The creamer is formed  with a distinctive ribbed body also in silver plate, the handle decorated in the form of a long tailed pheasant perched on the top edge with a gold tone head and crest, a turquoise mosaic body and back of tail. The creamers base is signed Los Castillo, Hecho EN Mexico, Platendo 207.

Overall good condition with general scuffing and handling wear commensurate with age and use.  Some plating wear is evident mostly to the sugar bowl top rim and wire base. Note: the overlay work of the mosaic resembles a crazy paving path,  with irregular shaped pieces and natural imperfections of the stone. Some small stone imperfections and gaps are present in the mosaic. As the stone is laid onto curved surfaces this can be expected with this type of ware. Please refer to numerous gallery photos provided. The patina is a wonderful mix of natural hues. A good unique creamer and sugar hand crafted by a very well respected Mexican workshop approx mid 20th C.
